Happy Holidays from NISC Chair Lynn Fields Harris

“As Chair of the NISC Executive Committee I have the very good fortune and privilege to work with creative, innovative and thoughtful senior center professionals from across the country, who volunteer their time and talent to support senior centers, their colleagues and older adults. As 2016 draws to a close, I want to thank the members of the NISC Executive Team for having a positive and progressive impact on senior center outcomes: Elizabeth Bernat (Improving Health & Chair Elect 2018); Tracey Colagrossi (State Associations); Sue Getman (Past Chair); Beverly Ferry & Laura Cisneros (Economic Security); Dianne Stone (Standards and Accreditation).

We make a great TEAM because we truly believe that “together everyone achieves more.” Every month, we meet virtually to discuss relevant and topical issues and in between those meetings, we work with teams in areas of priority for the work of NISC. In 2017, we hope that many others of you will choose to take a leadership role in NISC by joining one of the teams and/or applying to chair a team or join the executive committee.  Respond to the call for applications in NISC Senior Center Voice or e-mail Maureen or me.  This year, I was excited and pleased to meet many of you at Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Excellence, the NISC Senior Centers Conference held in Philadelphia; and, I look forward to seeing you again next spring in Illinois.

Of course, the work that we do is possible because of the support of the NISC Program, Manager Maureen O’Leary.  We thank Maureen for all that she does, above and beyond, to benefit senior centers and senior center professionals nationwide. We also thank NCOA staff who support our work and help us to achieve our goals on a regular basis.”

Happy Holidays!
